What is a baby safe finish for a kitchen?
Hello everyone, I have an unfinished (I think pine) dining table .... I want to put a finish on it so it will not get dirty ... What are some good safe non-toxic finishes? I have a little baby, so I want to keep the table relatively toxin free. Any ideas?
No offense, but a finish can be a way of stain and clear coat, and all food substances should be, can be cleaned away, as a kitchen worktop. It can be assumed that cleaning is a normal process anyway, and Poly over a stain will work. It is also assumed that plates, bowls, etc., will be used to feed and that the child would not actually chew the table, again, no offense. I have a suggestion, if only temporarily. Finish the table of your choice, and consider the above proposal, and then either get a piece of tabletop glass or Plexi to cover the complete table. dirty is a natural process, even without food comes into contact. Dust settles, etc. easily on horizontal surfaces, regardless of content. Probably many things can be toxic to humans, but monitoring of tiny people, is one way to help keep them safe, even in their young adulthood, smile. A parents work is never done. Happy Mother's Day
