Cot Crib

Curious about the wording ... "diaper, cot, Moses basket, dummy", etc. ..?

I have noticed people using a lot of different words as a diaper for diaper, cradle to crib, Moses basket bassinette, dummy for the pacifier. If these conditions are coming from somewhere else than in the U.S., or different areas in the U.S. - like Some people use the term "soda" or "pop" in different areas. I was just curious.

About a month ago there was an issue similar to this, which contains all the differences. I am a North American in the United Kingdom then had to fight to use the English terminology, or nobody knows what I mean. Here is a list of all that I could think of: North America = UK bassinette = Moses Basket Cot = crib crib baby cot = grain = rice baby diaper = nappy pacifier / dummy = pacifier stroller pram = (almost anything is called a pram in Britain, regardless if it is a sand buggy or if it is a stroller, stroller, etc.), antenatal = = Antenatal face cloths flannels vests vests = monitor = Intercom (ie to listen to the child in another room) sleeping or onesie = babygro schnapps (like those on sleepers) = poppers playpen travel cot = demerol = pethedine ultrasound / sonogram = scan Someone above said Moses basket is designed for when you go somewhere with the child and that there is a difference in US / UK also. In the United Kingdom a Moses basket has the same purpose as an American basinette - baby sleeping in it for the first 6-8 weeks, so he Or she can be kept in your bedroom and can easily be moved around the house. You would not really take it around to someone's house - we use the cart for it. Another difference is that in the USA / Canada, we use obstetrician-Gynecologists (usually called your Ob-Gyn), but in England, is a caring midwife, and if you mentioned an Ob-Gyn for some reason people will call, the doctor a "consultant". (All specialist Dr called consultants).
