Pad Topper
Any proposal to reduce pain while sleeping?
Because of some injuries, it is very painful to lie down, and I get really tired to sleep in a chair! Anybody have any suggestions for making it more comfortable to sleep when you're hurt? Has anyone tried foam mattress topper pads and had no success? All suggestions welcome, thanks to 3, no points for guessing why I'm up at this time .. 
Not being able to sleep because of pain have to be one of the worst experiences. I know I have sat and held my head, almost crying because I was so tired but could not sleep because of pain. I hope you find a solution soon. I do not know if any of my suggestions will help, but I'll try anyway ... If you can sleep sitting up, maybe you could close you up on pillows in bed? I did this after surgery and it helped me a lot. My niece has a triangular wedge-shaped thing (do not know what it's called) which goes under her mattress to keep her sleeping on a proper angle to her reflux, which can work for you. We bought a foam mattress (mattress, not a topper) from Wal-Mart and it was unusable for me. I have Diskusprolaps slices and nerve damage in his back. The foam was about 6-8 "thick and I am thinking of cutting it up for dog beds. I've heard great thing about foam toppers although I have never used one himself. I agree that you should have some sort of pain or sleeping meds if you have so much trouble. If your Doc does not agree so maybe it's time for a new Doc! If you just do not want to take them so I can say that I have had great success knock me out by taking a warm bath before bedtime have a glass of wine with a cup of decaffeinated tea, read a book, cuddle with my doggie, or a combo of these things. I've also read that creating a bed time "ritual" really good to put us to sleep. Do the same things in the same order each night before bedtime allows our minds and bodies to know that it is time to rest. Also watch your caffeine intake, stop for at least 3 hours before bedtime. I hope you find some relief very soon. If you have not tried a pain management doc maybe that could help you? What about one of these Craft Matic bed? I have no idea about the cost, but it could be something to behold.
